Basil AlEssa, Chairman of the Board

Basil Al Essa is the President of Shawarmer, a leading national quick-service restaurant chain with over 120 branches in 24 cities. He has 15+ years of experience in general management, strategy and operations in multinational environments. Prior to joining Shawarmer, Basil was the Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at Emaar Properties where he drove significant strategic, operational and organization impact and co-led the innovation and growth agendas. While at Emaar, Basil was seconded to co-lead the acquisition, and later the transition and transformation management of the landmark buyout of Kuwait Food Company (Americana Group). Basil held senior roles at PepsiCo Africa, Middle East & South Asia (AMESA) leading sales and go-to-market (GTM) strategy and execution within both the beverage and snacks businesses in PepsiCo largest and most profitable sector. He led projects in India, Egypt, KSA, Pakistan, and China.

Yousef AlYousefi, CEO, Board Member and Director of Asset Management

Yousef is CEO at Joa Capital and Managing Partner at S3 Ventures, where he invests in early-stage ventures in Saudi Arabia in partnership with leading Saudi investors and corporations. Prior to that he was the founding managing director at RTF, Saudi Arabia’s first institutionally-backed venture capital fund. He started his career in the oil and gas, management consulting, and investment management industries working at multinationals such as Saudi Aramco, Schlumberger, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Passport Capital. He holds a bachelors of science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He sits on the board of Saudi Post, Saudi Airlines Catering Company and Saudi Automotive Services Company (SASCO) and previously served on the boards of Saudi Fransi Capital and the investment committee of Saudi Venture Capital Company.

Ahmed Demyati, Deputy Chairman of the Board, CEO Advisory and Fund Manager

Ahmed is an investments and advisory professional with a proven track record in investments, advisory as well as fund establishment and operations. He served as advisor to HE Khalid AlFalih, Minister of Investment and worked at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority as Managing Director – Investment Development and Attraction. He also led the development, approval and operations of a USD 1.3 billion fund that was mandated by a Royal Decree. Ahmed started his career at HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets unit where he spent more than 7 years advising clients including regional and international companies, government entities and family groups to raise more than USD 70 billion of capital (debt and equity). He served at different product groups (Project and Export Finance, Structured Finance Advisory and DCM) and originated and executed high profile transactions in the energy and infrastructure, power and utilities, healthcare, retail, telecom and technology sectors.
